Bin rental carries the largest share of the Meta budget at 43%, with clicks coming in at 48 cents. Holiday lights put 461 people on the holiday lights page, and the photo above is the one Meta has put most of the budget behind.

Material delivery ran at 40 cents a click and is now paused for the winter, coming back in January.

Campaigns to note

Bin rentals remain the core Google focus. The main bin rental term is competitive, so the cost per click runs higher there, but it is where the demand is and the service you asked me to lead with.

Holiday light installation now runs on search only, so it shows to people who are looking for lights. Those searches are still light in early October and build into November, and the campaign picks up as they do.

Google is still where most people look for a landscaper, so I searched each of your services the way a customer would, logged out from Whistler on October 12: first in Google’s normal results, then on Google Maps, where your three Google profiles appear.

The read

Pika is in Google’s top three for every service. First for bin rental and material delivery, second for landscapers, landscape design, landscape maintenance and Christmas light installation, and third for landscaping, landscaping company and soil delivery.

All three of your Google profiles come up in the top three on Maps. Pika Landscapes for landscapers, landscaping, landscaping company, landscape design and landscape maintenance, Pika Bin Rentals for dumpster rental, and Pika Christmas Lights for Christmas light installation.

Next, to make it first across the board

The website changes in section 7. They put “landscaping” and the town into the headings and wording on every landscaping page, so each page says plainly what it is and where.

Google Search Console. I’ll connect it so we can see exactly which searches bring people to the site, and watch the changes land.

Reviews from landscaping customers. A few new reviews on your main Google profile that mention the work and the town help Pika stand out on Google Maps.

6Showing Up in AI Search

More people now ask an AI assistant like ChatGPT for a recommendation, so I asked ChatGPT about your services the way a new customer would: signed out, with each search run twice.

Bin rental, ChatGPT1stboth runs, quoting your prices
Material delivery, ChatGPTNamedin one of the two runs
Christmas lights, ChatGPTOn the mapof local installers, both runs

The read

ChatGPT already recommends Pika where the website answers the question clearly. Pika Bin Rentals comes up first for “bin rental whistler” in both runs, quoting the prices straight from your website. Pika is named for “material delivery whistler” too, and Pika Christmas Lights appears on ChatGPT’s map of local installers for “christmas light installation whistler” in both runs.

Next: landscaping in AI search

The next step is to lift Pika higher in AI search for its core service, landscaping, and it is where I’m directing the work over the next couple of months.

The Bing listing. ChatGPT’s local list closely follows Bing Maps, so I’ll claim Pika’s listing next and fill it from your Google profile.

The website changes in section 7. They give the landscaping pages the same kind of clear detail the bin page has, and a starting price would complete it.

A re-check. Two to four weeks after those are live, I’ll run the same ChatGPT searches again the same way and report back.

From first sketch to final planting

Every project starts with a visit to your property. Adam, who holds a degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Guelph, then prepares drawings and renderings of the hardscape, planting and lighting, so you can see the finished space before we break ground. Once you are happy with the plan, our own construction crews build it, with our own trucks and equipment. [Does Adam lead every design himself?]

What we build: patios and outdoor living spaces · retaining walls · driveways · pathways and steps · gardens, lawns and planting, including native plants, perennials and trees · landscape lighting · water features · fences and green roofs [both are in the site’s service list, still offered?]

Built for the Sea to Sky: we design for mountain properties: snow, freeze and thaw, and drainage on sloped lots [confirm wording], with plants that thrive here. We never use chemical fertilizer, pesticides or herbicides. 23 years, 791 projects, 35 people.

Questions, shown on the page: What is your service area? · Do you use organic practices? · How do I get started with a project? · What landscaping services do you offer?

New FAQ, What does a project cost? Every project is different, so we talk through a ballpark investment on your first call.

What’s included

Our maintenance runs as an annual contract. We start with a spring clean-up, look after your lawn and garden every week through the season, and finish with a fall tidy and winter prep. Everything is organic: we never use chemical fertilizer, pesticides or herbicides.

Our maintenance team is led by Erin Bonin, our Maintenance Manager, who was born and raised in Whistler and has been with Pika since the very beginning.

[Which properties: homes only, or strata and commercial too? Is a one-off clean-up available without a contract? When do new contracts start?]

Suggested
  • Headings such as “Patios in Whistler” and “Retaining walls in Whistler”.
  • Two or three sentences on each, and a link to one finished project of that type.
To talk through
  • Nothing changed yet. You’re OK with the headings in principle, but they would make the previous and next buttons awkward, and you’d rather keep these pages to the heading and photos.
See the suggested wording

Patios. We design and build patios in paving stone, natural stone or concrete, planned around how you want to use the space and built by our own crews to last through Sea to Sky winters.

Retaining walls. On a sloped mountain lot, a retaining wall is often what makes the garden usable. We build them in natural stone, block and timber, [with drainage designed behind them so they hold through freeze and thaw].

Driveways. We build paving stone driveways from the base up for Whistler winters, [so they stay level under snow, ploughs and heavy vehicles]. [Do we lay the base with our own 3/4" minus gravel?]

Pathways and steps. Pathways and steps in natural stone, flagstone and paving stone that connect your home to the garden [and stay safe underfoot through the wet and icy months].

Gardens and lawns. Planting plans built around native plants, perennials and trees that thrive in the Sea to Sky, with Harry Watling, our resident plant and tree expert [confirm his role on design projects]. New lawns go down on our own turf soil [confirm], [and everything is cared for organically].

Landscape lighting. Path, accent and architectural lighting, designed with the rest of the landscape so the garden looks as good at night as it does in the day.

[Which finished project suits each page?]

8What I've Done
Ads
1

Holiday lights live on Meta and Google

Last season’s strongest photos and wording are running again on Meta across Whistler, and the Google campaign has a new ad covering commercial-grade warm white bulbs, custom-cut runs, and optional takedown and storage. The full breakdown is in the holiday lights report.

2

A tidy-up across Google and Meta

Bin rental and holiday lights run on Google Search only, so the budget goes to people actively searching. Bin rental is kept away from searches for the dump, transfer station and landfill, and a new bin rental ad built around winter renovations runs alongside the existing ones. On Meta, bin rental is set to find people who go on to load the page.

Website and search
1

Open to AI assistants

Every page can be read by AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Perplexity, the site carries a plain-English summary written for them, and your services, FAQs, opening hours and reviews are labelled in the format Google and AI tools read.

2

Each service page reads as its own service

Search engines and AI tools now read only each service page’s own service, so the landscaping pages read as landscaping. The maintenance page also now ends with the same consult steps as Design & Build.

3

Your details current on the website

Your 35 reviews at 4.9 and 23 years in business now match across the website, including the parts Google and AI tools read. The reviews on the site refresh from Google every week, and the updated pages went straight to Bing.

4

Review quotes tidied

The black line at the start of the review quotes is gone on every page with reviews.

5

Older links forward

Web addresses that older ads and pages still use now forward to the right page.

6

One DMARC record on your domain

The unused Lovable record is off, so pikalandscapes.com carries a single DMARC record for your email.

9Discussion & Next Steps
1

Holiday lights, from here

Two weeks in, the push has put 461 people on the holiday lights page from Meta. You will have the best view of the enquiries it brought in, so worth comparing notes on the call and deciding whether to keep it running into November, when lights searches are at their busiest.

2

Your Bing listing, and one address

Thanks for clearing this up. The contact page now shows Mons Rd as the work yard and Tyrol Crescent as the mailing address. One thing to decide: Google and the website should show the same address to help you rank locally. Your Google profiles show Tyrol Crescent, but the website tells Google you’re at the yard. Changing the Google profiles would mean Google re-checking all three, so the simplest fix is the website matching Tyrol Crescent, but not if it brings people to your home. How would you like to handle it?

3

The website changes in section 7

Cards 1, 2 and 4 are live with your changes, and card 3 is live apart from the new section waiting on your rewrite. Cards 5 to 8 are still to talk through.

4

Reviews on the Christmas lights profile

The lights profile is already drawing 52 direction requests. As this season’s installs go in, a few reviews from lights customers would put it alongside the main profile, which sits at 4.9 across 35 reviews. The review link for the lights profile is g.page/r/CfNUUqf7kQdWEBM/review.
