Event gratuity and Amelia’s tip share
What share of the gratuity from events reaches her pay, fortnight by fortnight,
read straight from Square against the pay stubs.
1What it comes to
Her share of event gratuity17.4%range 16.1% to 18.7%
Periods that fit the pattern4 of 6
Event gratuity tracked$6,131.5716 May to 4 Sep
Paid to Amelia over that run$1,392.94
The read
There is a consistent rate, and it is about 17.4% of the gratuity taken on events.
It only shows up once two things are handled. First, the gratuity has to be counted from
events alone, not from all tips the club takes. Second, the three periods from 16 May to
26 June have to be read together, because an overpayment in one was corrected in the next.
Do that and four periods land between 16.1% and 18.7%.
What moves the number most is not the rate, it is how much event gratuity there was to share.
Quiet fortnights are quiet because events ran that brought in no gratuity at all, and those are
listed under each period below.

4The one that does not fit
27 June to 10 July
She received $490.45 against only $941.19 of event gratuity, which is 52%. Either she
was paid above the usual share that fortnight, or gratuity from an event in it never went through
Square. The Tom & Niamh wedding fell in this period, so that is the first place to look.
Taking events out cannot explain it. The pool is already too small, so removing anything
pushes the percentage higher still. Only finding gratuity that is missing brings it back in line.
5What was left out
How an event was identified
Gratuity counts when it can be tied to an event: billed on a named event invoice, carrying an
Auto Gratuity service charge, on a tab naming a known event client, on a tab that says it is an
event, or carrying the 20% auto-gratuity on a named tab of $400 or more. Everything else is out,
so no ordinary table or bar tab is counted just for falling on the same day as an event.

6Worth knowing
Three things that shape the numbers
Square records no tips against individual staff. Amelia is not a team member in it and
every order logs under the owner account, so the split can only ever be worked out by hand.
The 20% auto-gratuity reaches Square two different ways, as a service charge on an invoice
and as an ordinary tip rung in at the till. Only 27 orders in all of 2026 used the service charge,
so reading that route alone would miss almost every event.
A gratuity counts in the period it was paid, not when the event ran. The Arc’teryx
event on 27 May was paid on 2 June, so its $1,272.70 sits in the following period. Six events in
this run moved period that way, and each is marked.
