Mongolie Grill 9 October 2026

Website notes, round one

The managers’ first round of notes on the new website, in one list. The Word file and the PDF hold the same notes word for word, so there is nothing to reconcile between them, and the three notes that repeat inside them are combined below. Five points need a decision first; everything else is clear. Everything here is about the new website, mongoliegrill.pages.dev, quoted exactly as it reads today. Your current website, mongoliegrill.com, has not been touched.

1Needs a decision

These came out of checking every note against the new site as it is now. Both sides are quoted exactly as written.

1Nuts and the food bar

In the notes

The allergy text, note 2“Mongolie Grill is a nut-free restaurant. We do not use peanuts or tree nuts in our food preparation.”

On the new site now

Food Bar menu, Accompaniments“41 Cashews”

Allergy Guide, Before you build your bowl“We have made the decision to be a peanut free establishment.”
“We have Cashews at the end of the food bar, and the noodle options are made in a facility which may contain nuts.”

Allergy Guide, Dessert ingredients“May contain traces of peanut and or other nuts.”

The question: are cashews off the food bar now? And should the noodle and dessert lines about nuts stay as they are, next to the new nut-free wording?

The new site's food bar list was copied from the food bar page on mongoliegrill.com, which still lists cashews today, and its Allergy Guide from your 2024 Allergy Guide, which is still the one on mongoliegrill.com. I have not been sent a newer food bar list or allergy guide (the printed menu Ruth sent in September covers the drinks and the three steps), so if there is one, please send it and I will use it instead. Until this is confirmed I will keep the nut-free sentence off the site, so it never sits next to a list that includes cashews.

2One sentence in the gluten free blog post

In the notes

The allergy text, note 2“For this reason, we cannot guarantee a completely gluten-free meal for guests with celiac disease.”

News from Mongolie Grill, note 12“a lot of information needs to be changed in how to build the perfect bowl and the eating gluten free and vegans. I will work on this soon.”

On the new site now

Eating Gluten Free and Vegan, The grill is the part that matters“It takes an extra minute, and it is the reason people with coeliac disease can eat here without spending the meal worrying about it.”

The question: should that sentence come out now, ahead of your changes to the post?

My recommendation: yes. It says the opposite of the new celiac wording, and the rest of the post can wait for your changes.

3The allergy wording already on the Allergy Guide

In the notes

Allergy guide, note 17“How we handle allergies: I would put the whole text about allergies and Celiac disease.”

The allergy text, note 2“If you have a food allergy, please let your server know when you arrive. We are happy to accommodate anaphylactic food allergies and take additional precautions to help prevent contact with the allergen.”

“If you have a severe sesame allergy, please speak with a manager before ordering so we can discuss the risks with you.”

On the new site now

Allergy Guide, How we handle allergies (three paragraphs)“If your allergy may cause an anaphylactic reaction, or if you have any questions about the process, please speak to the manager before making your meal.”

The paragraph the new text does not cover“Our biggest concern here at the Mongolie Grill, when dealing with allergies, is the possibility of cross contamination at the food bar. All guests have access to the food bar & some may be unaware of the risk posed to individuals with food allergies. Our Team are constantly monitoring the food bar, restocking fresh ingredients and replacing items to ensure our highest standards are maintained.”

The question: should the new text replace all three paragraphs, or replace them and keep the food bar paragraph?

Keeping all of both would tell a guest with an anaphylactic allergy to speak to the manager in one paragraph and to their server in another.

4Where the Allergy tab goes

In the notes

Main page, note 1“I would add an Allergy tab beside menu”

Main page, note 2“This is what I would put in the Allergy tab and a link to our ingredients list:”

Allergy guide, note 17“I would put the whole text about allergies and Celiac disease.”

On the new site now

Allergy Guide, under MenuA How we handle allergies section, then the full ingredients for every sauce, noodle, marinade and dessert.

Allergy Guide, Before you build your bowl“Consult Allergy Guide & Ingredient Listing to select safe ingredients”

The question: should the Allergy tab open the Allergy Guide, with the new text at the top and the ingredients below it? Or a separate Allergy page with the text, linking to the Allergy Guide for the ingredients, and the same text on the Allergy Guide as well?

My recommendation: the Allergy Guide. Notes 2 and 17 put the same text in both places, and on one page it can never end up saying two different things. If "our ingredients list" is a different document from the Allergy Guide, please send me a copy of it and I will link to it.

5How many items are on the food bar

In the notes

Main page, note 4“Now, we have 38 items on the food bar. I don’t think the sauces should count as a fresh ingredient.”

“Suggestion: 35+ fresh ingredients”

On the new site now

Food Bar menu41 items, from Udon noodles to Cashews, plus 12 sauces.

Menu page, Food Bar“41 fresh ingredients and 12 sauces.”

The question: which items on the list of 41 (copied from mongoliegrill.com) are no longer on the bar, and is anything new? A list of the 38 as they are now works just as well. The Food Bar menu and the line on the Menu page then match the bar, and 35+ holds either way.

2What I need from you
  1. For the new Reservations page (note 11): when you take reservations and when you don't (for example which seasons, days or group sizes), and why. A few lines in an email is plenty, and I will set it out as a page for you to approve.
  2. Your changes to How to Build the Perfect Bowl and Eating Gluten Free and Vegan (note 12), when they are ready. A Word file or an email both work.
3Every note, page by page

All 17 notes, numbered in the order they appear in your notes and quoted exactly as written. Where a note gives only the new words, only those words change and the rest of the line stays as it is. Nothing on the new website has changed yet.

4The allergy text

Exactly as in your notes, with your bold, ready for the Allergy Guide once points 1, 3 and 4 are settled.

Allergies & Celiac Disease

At Mongolie Grill, we take food allergies very seriously. If you have a food allergy, please let your server know when you arrive. We are happy to accommodate anaphylactic food allergies and take additional precautions to help prevent contact with the allergen. This includes cleaning the grill and using separate cooking spatulas for your meal.

Mongolie Grill is a nut-free restaurant. We do not use peanuts or tree nuts in our food preparation.

Celiac Disease & Gluten

Celiac disease is different from a food allergy and requires special consideration because gluten cannot be destroyed by heat.

All our food is cooked on one large cast-iron grill. Cast iron is a porous cooking surface, and gluten-containing foods and sauces are regularly cooked on the grill. Even after the grill is cleaned, there may be a risk that gluten residue remains in the pores or on the surface of the cast iron.

For this reason, we cannot guarantee a completely gluten-free meal for guests with celiac disease. While we will take additional precautions, including cleaning the grill and using separate cooking spatulas, there remains a risk of gluten cross-contact.

If you have celiac disease, please speak with your server before making a meal. We want you to have all the information necessary to make the decision that is right for you.

Sesame allergies can be difficult for us to accommodate. Sesame seeds are present in our restaurant and are used in our food preparation. Because sesame is present in our kitchen and food preparation areas, we cannot guarantee that a meal will be completely free from sesame or sesame cross-contact.

If you have a severe sesame allergy, please speak with a manager before ordering so we can discuss the risks with you.

If you have a food allergy, please always inform your server right away and make sure you carry your EpiPen.
